Sonya was inspired to ballroom dance by her father. As a ballroom dancer, her father started “training” her by putting her feet on top of his while dancing the cha cha rhythm when she was about three years old. For about ten years, she taught ballroom dance, performed at various fundraisers/events and competed professionally through the Fred Astaire Dance Studio, located on the east coast. She has a master’s in education and applies her understanding of knowledge acquisition to help her students learn new steps and technique. Sonya brings out the elegance in her students while cultivating a relaxed, yet fun environment. She currently teaches at Napa Dance Club located in Redwood City, CA. She looks forward to sharing her joy of dancing with you!
Lesson Specialty:
Sonya specializes in choreographing couples’ first wedding dance. She is trained to teach all smooth (waltz, foxtrot, tango, viennese) and rhythm (cha cha, rumba, east coast swing, bolero) dances.
